Boston Strong

This is not an easy blog to start. As most of you know, recent events in my life have transpired and landed me back in Boston. I didn't really have any intentions of blogging anymore as I now have a new found respect for my own privacy. However, the events that have occurred in the past week in my beloved city (and anyone who knows me knows how much I truly do love this city) have reminded me too much of another time in my life when things were turned upside down and although it took me 16 years to write about it, it is amazing what an impact it is still having on me. I am hoping this post will have the same result.

So here it is, no...I was no where near the finish line on Monday. And yes, when I read the tweets about it I was silly enough to think it was not a big deal. I sent a text to Lorna becuase where she works is right on the finish line and even if it wasn't a big deal, I wanted to make sure she was ok. When I worked at Morton's that was located on the opposite side of the street from Lotnas hotel (she works at The Lenox, if you have seen any news coverage at all , you have seen hotel) and I lived 3 blocks from there. I know plenty of people over there. Thankfully for me, no one I know was close enough to be one of the three killed by this horrific event. I do know people who have been effected by it in one way or another. There is no way to live in Boston and not know someone who was there.

As the week progressed there was an amazing feeling of strength and pride that emanated this city. Signs of Boston Strong and Boston Pride started to pop up all over the place. There was a sense that although we were knocked off our feet, in all sense of the saying, we can all pull together and be stronger for it.

I was planning to go to the memorial on Friday to pay my respects and to see it,  but at 7am when I was woken by my phone going off with many texts that I found out my beloved city was now on lockdown and I was not going to be going anywhere that day. It was another scary day in the city, 2 in 1 week is too many! Thankfully by the time I went to bed that night the city was a much safer place with 1 suspect in custody and the other dead.

As time continues to move forward and the rest of the world has moved on we still have daily reminders of what happened here. It has touched and effected some of us more than others but it is something that we will never forget.

For me it was just another reminder of how many people love me. For everyone who called, texted, emailed myself or Krystyn or Kelly or whomever to make sure I was ok, I thank each one of you. I feel like I am saying this too much in the past few months but these things happen and they only make you stronger. At this point I think I am strong enough!
